Neu Campus Planning (NCP) participated as a key member of a consultant team lead by Buro Happold, an integrated, international engineering firm, in the development of sustainable design and construction guidelines for the University of Southern California (USC).   These guidelines will serve an important role in “selecting and implementing sustainable design strategies for USC construction-based projects,”  both new and renovation types, as well as asset renewal and tenant improvement work. The work effort incorporated significant outreach efforts to include the various internal constituencies of USC, and city, county and state standards.  Topic areas include the following: site, landscape, energy, water, materials, waste and occupant comfort.

The approved (6/22) guidelines include three sections: management process, technical guidelines and appendix references; e.g., LEED, LCA, LCCA, etc.  NCP was primarily involved in the development of the management process section, as well as review of the draft technical guidelines and the benchmarking research of current R-1 universities’ similar sustainability guidelines.
